I haven’t run into Eddie Vedder yet. Otherwise life is going pretty well, I realized today that I now feel comfortable enough in Ballard to ride almost exclusively no hands and I just got hired at a really neat little restaurant that’s going to be trusting me to do a lot of really cool stuff and i’m really excited about it! But seriously, why can’t I at least spot Ed?

Yikes! I had this spinning yesterday. I’d forgotten about the AIC cover… I’m not sure how I feel about DRA doing that tune!
I’ve always rather liked the cover….
Phew! I believe as the story goes, after hearing Ryan preform wonderwall Noel simple ‘gave’ the song to Ryan - because as i’ve heard he does it way better. I do love Oasis, I would simply say that neither version is better - They’re equal. But growing up in the Pacific Northwest AIC just has a place in my heart - I don’t really care for the cover. But that’s okay! I also happen to think that Ryan’s re-production of ‘my love for you is real’ is ultra lame partly because the Cowboy Technical Services version (the original in my mind) is just so good!
Alright internet/Tumblr. Here’s a monster of a question, because it seems like we’re all on a DRA binge these days let find this out. What is your least favorite Ryan Adams song? I’m going to hold back a bit and say off of major studio releases only.. no foggy (sorry!) or silly internet songs like ‘don’t comb the leprechaun’? But only monsters could not like that tune.
But still, sorry Ryan, they don’t all win. I’ll start, my least favorite is “The Sadness” off 29. I just can’t get into it.
Love me some Soft Boys. Does anybody know where I can get “Invisible Hits?”
It’s a bit of, what i’d call a ‘grower’ But I enjoy it. It doesn’t rank at the top of the DRA discography - but it’s a solid album. But Cold Roses is still #1 in my book!
tumblr, I need your help - Should I go see The Jayhawks alone, in concert on feb. 9th? They are playing at The Neptune here in Seattle and I haven’t anyone to go with. I feel like i’d be failing at life, failing at being a music nerd, and failing at life in the big city by not going. So, should I go to The Jayhawks concert alone?
Next Thursday, the House Transportation Committee will vote on the American Energy and Infrastructure Jobs Act, a bill that eliminates crucial funds for biking and walking. Representatives on the Transportation Committee are key positions to save dedicated funding for biking and walking.
If your representative is on the Transportation Committee, you are in a unique position to ask your elected official to preserve dedicated funding for biking and walking. Checkthis list to see if your representative is a Transportation Committee member. If so, please take a moment to contact them and let them know they are putting thousands of Americans, as well as our environment, at risk. If your representative is not, please contact them anyway and remind them that bicycle infrastructure is key to improving America’s transportation, particularly in the current economic climate. You can also call the Committee offices directly and voice your concern at (202) 225-9446.
America Bikes is working to introduce an amendment that will preserve funding for biking and walking. During Thursday’s vote, Representatives on the Transportation Committee will have the opportunity to pass this amendment to save biking and walking. We need to send a message to Congress that biking and walking deserve a share of transportation funding.
This is SO important. Safe Routes to School is a fantastic program- how can we expect to raise the next generation of women cyclists without it!? If you are in the US, please call your representatives.
The Clash continually went against the grain. They started every show with ‘I’m so bored with the USA’, and didn’t take kindly to fake music-biz etiquette and patronizingly stupid journalists. They were heralded as the exemplars of punk, who would deliver where the Pistols had failed, but they were more concerned with rubbing America’s nose in its own musical ignorance than sparking shock-horror outrage. If they did have anything they wanted to destroy it was Americas preoccupation with radio-friendly jock groups- ‘Every second we’re on the radio that’s a second less Boston or Foreigners’ said Joe. “
